Pastor John’s raw notes from his sermon on Sunday May 24, 2020:
It all started with a love a Father had for His children – Genesis 12:1-2 – Abraham’s Calling –
“The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s family. Go to the land I will show you.
2 “I will make you into a great nation. And I will bless you. I will make your name great. You will be a blessing to others.
3 I will bless those who bless you. I will put a curse on anyone who puts a curse on you.
All nations on earth will be blessed because of you.”
Exodus – Father continues to deliver His Children – Rescues them from Egypt. Leads them through miracles to a promised place.
Numbers 13-14 Sending out the Spies. Fear of the future, not faith in the Father.
20 The Lord replied, “I have forgiven them, just as you asked. 21 You can be sure that I live. You can be just as sure that my glory fills the whole earth. 22 And here is what you can be just as sure of. Not one of these people will see the land I promised to give them. They have seen my glory. They have seen the signs I did in Egypt. And they have seen what I did in the desert. But they did not obey me. And they have tested me ten times. 23 So not even one of them will ever see the land I promised to give to their people of long ago. The person who has not respected me will never see it. 24 But my servant Caleb has a different spirit. He follows me with his whole heart. So I will bring him into the land he went to. And his children after him will receive land there. 25 The Amalekites and the Canaanites are living in the valleys. So turn back tomorrow. Start out toward the desert. Go along the way that leads to the Red Sea.”
- God has a plan – will – sovereign – He calls us to join Him, trust Him, obey Him…
- See – God called His people, who He had a track record of blessing, to follow His leading…they disobeyed .
- All of us are faced with a choice, every day. To trust the Lord and follow His calling for your life, or continue to go your own way and wonder.
ALL of us were created to be a unique and important piece of God’s BIG plan. To be a Blessing and to be blessed.
Blessed Ppl Bless ppl.
It is amazing when you see glimpses of God’s sovereign will. His divine plan is at work all around us! .
Jeremiah 29:11 “I know the plans I have for you,” announces the Lord. “I want you to enjoy success. I do not plan to harm you. I will give you hope for the years to come.”
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
One way we know God has a calling on our lives is because with a spirit of Gratitude we can look back and see how God has been orchestrating our lives…
Even in the midst of so much unknown caused by this covid crisis…God’s Will – His plan can’t be stopped or hijacked.
