Steps To Thankfulness

By Christina Parker-Benton

We can stay positive, encouraged, enthusiastic, thankful and confident when we live our lives to W.O.R.S.H.I.P Jesus

Whisper & Walk:

Spend time with God in prayer & reading the Bible. Ask Him for peace during times of negativity. Seek guidance from Him on how to walk and act during times of negativity. And remember He is always with you.
{Scripture Reference: Psalm 1, Psalm 23:4, Phillipians 4:6-7, Matthew 7:7-12, Proverbs 16:3 }

Obey & Observe:

God will instruct you on what to do either through His Commands (Bible) or He will reveal it to you. Whatever He instructs you to do, be obedient to it. Then observe how He works through you and your life.
{Scripture Reference: Romans 6:16-17, John 14:23-24, Matthew 22:36-40}

Rest & Relax:

Once you are operating in obedience and living out the purpose God has given you, REST! Let Him do the rest! So RELAX!! Trust that He is not only in control but that He has it under control.
{Scripture Reference: Matthew 11:28-30, Proverbs 3:5-6, Matthew 6:25-34, Luke 12:22-26}

Strive & Serve:

Strive to succeed by continuing to move forward in life. Just like an athlete pushes through the pain toward victory, push yourself to think and stay positive by being thankful for what God has done. Serve others even through your difficult times. When we bless others with those things the Lord has provided us with we are reminded to be thankful.
{Scripture Reference: Hebrews 12:1-3, 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, Psalm 23:4, Isaiah 35:4, Matthew 25:34-40, 1 Thessalonians 5:11, 2 Corinthians 1:3-4}

Humbled & Hopeful:

Sometimes God uses rough times in our life to humble us. He reminds us of His authority and Lordship over our lives when we forget that everything comes from Him. During these difficult times God shows up giving us hope, displaying His glory and love for us.
{Scripture Reference: 1 Peter 5:6-7, 1 Corinthians 15:54-58, 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, Isaiah 40:31 Jeremiah 29:11}

Included & Increased:

As followers of Christ we are included in his suffering as well as in His comfort. We can find joy in our pain because we know our troubles in life are only momentary compared to an eternity in heaven with Jesus. Jesus also promised us increase; not so much in things of monetary value but in the fruits of the spirit (love, joy, peace, goodness, kindness, faithfulness & self-control.). This increase grows as we persevere in our faith.
{Scripture Reference: 1 Peter 4:12-13, Romans 5:3-18, Romans 8:18; 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, Isaiah 40:28-31}

Pray & Praise:

As we take captive each negative thought or moment we must be praying all the time. If communication is key in a relationship. Then Prayer is key in our relationship with God because It is how we communicate with him. When we pray we must always remember to be thankful. Praising God for who He is, what He has done for us, what He is doing for us (even in times of trouble), and for what He promises He will do.
{Scripture Reference: 1 Thessalonians 5;16-18, 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, Psalm 91:1-16,
Romans 8:38-39, 2 Corinthians 1:3-4}
